A bit about me

After graduating in Manchester with first class honours and a year of PR experience under my belt, I moved to North London and landed my first 'grown-up' job at a lingerie company. It was small, so I ended up doing... well, most things. Copywriting, PR, packing orders at midnight during sale – it was a baptism by fire. So, after a couple of years marketing expensive undies, I joined the PR team at Boden so I could become more of a master and less of a Jack.

It was there I realised that my love for words – and not just the ones on press releases – should probably be my full-time job if I was ever going to feel properly fulfilled at work. I managed to convince the copy team (after a few wines on the bus back from our summer party) that I really, really wanted to join them. It turned out they were advertising for a new role – Digital Copywriter – so I switched careers, not believing my luck that I now got to write for a living. Bookish, ten-year-old me would have been thrilled. 26-year-old me was over the moon.

My next move was to the small business marketplace, Not On The High Street. After a year of getting stuck in to their marvellously unique tone of voice, I was promoted to Senior Copywriter, then again to Copy Lead to manage a team of two through a brand repositioning. And that's where you'll find me now – writing and editing all sorts of copy every single day, and still with my nose in a book whenever I have a spare half an hour.
